Anyone who has ever experienced the frustration of flight delays can now take advantage of European Union (EU) law which allows air passenger who have been inconvenienced in this way access to financial compensation.
What this means is that if your flight is delayed for more than three hours, you may be entitled to compensation according to EU 261 regulation unless the airline can prove that the delay was caused by “extraordinary circumstances” which were beyond their control.
Delayed flight compensation
A flight delay under EU261 means that the airline must pay you flight delay compensation according to an agreed scale of payments in the EU law.
The compensation can be any amount up to 600 Euros per person affected by the delay or cancellation based on several factors.
The good news now is that you can claim for flight delays going back six years in time.
